Message from Mayor and Police Chief

Hello Everyone,

This message is coming from both Chief Ferris and myself. The Chief
will talk about beach operations for the coming summer.
Speaking of the beaches as many of you know ours are now open
with the season including badge checkers and life guards, etc
commencing on June 20th.  We will ask that social distancing be
observed at all times on the beach. This is a crucial part of the
process to stay safe and not contaminate others. This will be enforced
initially with requests to separate but if the problem persists then a
stronger measure will be taken.  When using the access points and
passing badge checkers please wear a mask until you are on the beach
with no one nearby.
At this time, we do not plan on restricting the number of badges that
we will be selling. If we have to limit badges sold for crowding it
will be day badges not season badges. We are training staff on social
distancing and will be instructing them to close walkways once limits
are reached where social distancing is no longer possible.  Beach goers
will be instructed to move north or south on the beach or instructed to
enter at the next walkway available.  Lifeguards will be at Lyman &
Downer 7 days a week till 6 PM, Albertson Friday, Saturday & Sunday
untill 5 PM along with mobile lifeguards 5 days a week Wednesday thru
Sunday.  Badge checkers will be stationary and mobile this year 7 days
a week.   Beach cleaning will be done 4 days a week and large bulk
items as needed.
Also, the “No Parking” signs will be taken down by this
Thursday, May 21st and we will return to the 4-hour parking rules that
are typically in place. Hopefully, this will help those in need of more
parking space near their home. As a matter of course we are not allowed
to keep the no parking restrictions in place indefinitely.  Finally,
all rentals will be allowed starting on June 1st. Please be sure to
obtain the necessary permits to avoid receiving a notice of violation.
It certainly feels now that the coming rental season will be a strong
one.
As always, please feel free to contact me at any time with
questions or concerns.
Be well and stay safe.

Best,
Mayor White
Chief Ferris
