Memorial Weekend Cookout Update

Dear Guest,

What happens when you have 500+ of your closest friends join for a Memorial Weekend Party – a really good time. Don’t worry we will have plenty of food but other resources may be a little strained. Here are some thoughts to help us all enjoy are re-opening party.

Parking will be at a premium – walk, ride your bike or come by boat, we will have an outdoor food station so Docktails Mantoloking style may be in order.
We will have seating for 350-400 people. When you are done eating please offer your seat to the next person, remember you are here to emote with the friends you have not seen since the storm.
Come early – stay late. The check-in lines will open at 5:30PM and the food will be ready by 6PM. We will have plenty of food and the serving lines will stay open until everyone has been served.
Help out – we have over 30 volunteers working the check-in and food tables but they all want to enjoy themselves as well. If it is around 7:15 – 7:30 and you see a familiar face still behind the food table offer to give them a break and help serve for a 30 minute span.
As you may know our parties bring out the best in everyone. We will have babies that will only be months old, plenty of young ones and of course many grandparents and maybe even some great grandparents. Be careful around the docks – remember 7 years and under need life jackets if they are out on the docks.
Remember it is BYOB but we will have ice and setups – see you on Sunday May 26.

Passes

All residents are reminded that for the time being, you will need resident passes to access many areas of the Borough (Namely East Avenue and Barnegat Lane). Access remains limited due to the massive amounts of demolition and debris removal. We also need to keep these streets free of traffic congestion for emergency purposes.

If you have not yet come in for a pass, please come up to OEM (on the second floor above the public works garage) on Monday-Wednesday from 9-3. Note: OEM will be closed on Memorial Day. When you come by, please bring a photo ID and something associated with your Mantoloking address (Tax, utility bill, etc.) If you do not have a picture pass, no worries– your green paper pass will continue to work.

We hope to end the pass system shortly after the Debris and Demo program is complete– target date = July 3rd!

Debris and Demo Information

For those enrolled in the PPDR/Demo program– please be patient. The Borough and the contractor have to comply with FEMA/State/County and local rules that everyone must follow before performing work. If your home is listed on the web site for PPDR it will be cleared within one to two weeks. If you are on the list for DEMO we will not proceed until the PPDR / DEMO office has received the homeowner’s sign off sheet. The schedule is not written in stone and is very fluid. Please remember that these properties have been declared a public safety hazard and residents should remain clear of all work zones.

It is very important that you do not bother the Contractors while they are preforming their work. They do not know the schedule and it is very dangerous to approach the equipment while they are operating. The target date for completion is July 4th. Pending weather or other disturbances, we aim to have all homes cleared by then.

BEACH CLEAN-UP

The weather is looking good for the beach clean-up tomorrow. Please gather prior 9am at the entrance to the Mantoloking Yacht Club (Bay Avenue) and register. Please bring work gloves and sturdy shoes.

Save the Shore Foundation has lined up a ton of volunteers to help with the effort. It should be a great day. Thanks in advance to everyone for lending a hand.
