Mantoloking Police Department Press Release

On 10/24/2021 at 0302 hrs. Patrolman LaRue was dispatched to a single vehicle MVA in the 1200 block of Ocean Ave (Rt. 35). The driver, Jeremy W. Barringer, 46, of Toms River, NJ was found to be wearing body armor, in possession of a loaded AR-15 rifle, three high capacity magazines with hollow point bullets, one loaded 9mm handgun with additional magazines loaded with hollow point rounds and a holster.   Mr. Barringer was taken into custody and charged with numerous offenses including; unlawful possession of a rifle, unlawful possession of a hand gun, possession of 59- 9mm hollow point bullets, possession of 80 - 5.56 hollow point rifle rounds, possession of a weapon after being a convicted sex offender and eight counts of possession of high capacity magazines.  Mr. Barringer was charged and transported to Ocean County Jail.  Additional charges are pending.  We would like to thank Bay Head Police Department for backing up our officer and assistance in the investigation along with; Ocean County Prosecutors Office, NJ Joint Terrorism Taskforce, FBI and NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.
