PAYMENT REQUIRED PRIOR TO PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS

• Effective immediately we will be complying with the recommended procedure as set forth by the State Police which requires payment for Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards and Permits to Purchase Handguns prior to starting the investigation process.
• Fees will be accepted Monday- Friday 10:00 am- 3:00 pm at the Police Department window.

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 22, 2022: Firearms fees have increased per New Jersey Statute.

Carry Permit

•  $150 check or money order payable to “Mantoloking Police Department” AND

•  $50.00 money order payable to “New Jersey State Police”.

Firearms fees have increased as per New Jersey Statute and are now:

• $25 per handgun permit
• $50 for Firearm Identification cards

Check or money order payable to “Mantoloking Police Department”

There is a separate fee that is paid directly to NJSP.

Application for Permit to Carry a Handgun - Effective 8/1/2023

The Concealed Carry Permits service allows for online submission of both initial and renewal applications. Approved applications are due for renewal every two (2) years. Renewal applications can be submitted up to four (4) months before the expiration date. Concealed Carry Permit applicants need to have been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey and assigned an SBI number before they can apply for a Concealed Carry Permit. If you have never been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey before, start with an application for an Initial Firearms I.D. card.

All initial Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards submitted for after 10/25/2022 shall display a color photograph and shall expire during the tenth calendar year following its date of issuance. Any subsequent approved application shall renew the Firearms Purchaser Identification Card for an additional ten years.

As of March 31, 2021, All Firearm Identification Cards (E-FID) and Handgun Permits (E-Permits) will be issued electronically via E-mail by the NJ Portal F.A.R.S. System once approved. Applicants will have the ability to print, save, and/or screenshot their E-FID card.  These items are stored in the F.A.R.S. system.

NOTE : Effective September 13, 2022, the required Course of Instruction in the lawful safe handling and storage of firearms is integrated into the application process for all INITIAL Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards.

The State of New Jersey has instituted an online firearms application and registration system (F.A.R.S.).  Now, when applying for firearms the entire application is online and will cover:

• Initial Firearms Purchaser Identification Card
• Application to purchase a handgun
• Change of Name on Identification Card
• Change od Address on Identification Card
• Change of Sex on Identification Card
• Lost or stolen Identification Card
• Mutilated Identification Card

BE SURE TO HAVE:

• Valid New Jersey driver's license
• Social Security Number
• State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) number (If you do not have this, you will be assigned a number as part of this application)
• Valid email address(s) for yourself and references

HOW TO APPLY: APPLICANTS(Initial ID Card,Purchase Handgun, Name, Address or Change of Sex on ID Card, Lost, Stolen or Mutilated ID Cards)

1. Login to the website http://www.njportal.com/njsp/fars.  On the bottom left corner you will see a button marked "Online Firearms Application"; click to begin.
2. When prompted to enter the agency's ORI number enter the ORI number NJ0151900.  You then have the option to continue or cancel your filing.  Please note when completing the application please enter your name as it appears on your driver's license and inform references that they will be emailed a reference check by the F.A.R.S. system.  Failure to do this may delay or even reject your application.  Fees will apply; no refunds issued.
3. Upon completion of the F.A.R.S application process you will receive a F.A.R.S Contributor Case Number.  ***TAKE NOTE OF THIS NUMBER AS IT WILL BE USED IN THE FINGERPRINTING PROCESS***
4. Log on to http://UENROLL.IDENTOGO.COM using the SERVICE CODE: 2F164B to schedule your fingerprinting appointment with IDENTOGO.  You will also need your F.A.R.S. Contributor Case Number.  References will also be sent out at this time.
5. Monitor your email for status changes and for alerts should we require additional information.  When approved, you will be notified when your documents have been prepared via email and available in your NJ Portal.
